Silicone Mask Armature

£90.00 (incl. VAT)

Neill’s Materials’ Silicone Mask Armature is the perfect basis on which to create sculptures for full head silicone masks. Taken from a life cast it’s been reduced to give a tighter fit in certain areas.

The mouth is a deep slot allowing for the lips of the mask to fit over the wearers own lips. The eye area has then been flattened down to make the silicone sit tighter beneath the wearers eye, easier for moulding.

Caution
Please avoid high temperature as this will distort the foam core.
Light Weight But Very Strong

Neill’s mask armature also differs from others on the market in that it’s cast with a polyurethane resin skin backed up with a dense polyurethane foam. This provides a tough surface which can be used repeatedly and is less likely to suffer wear and tear from your sculpture tools and during mould making. Having this resin surface means it can be incorporated as the core part of your mould. It also won’t inhibit platinum silicones.

It’s light weight but still very strong. It is also hollow cast so can be back filled easily with plaster to make it heavier if required.

Hand Made Items

Because these are a hand made item, when casting our mask armatures, some blemishes or imperfections may occur. This may be surface imperfections, a bubble, discolouration or areas where the resin cast surface may be thin and showing the rigid foam backing behind.

Armatures are cast from a single piece mould with a split in the back for removal of the piece. This leaves a seam line on the back of the head that some customers mistake for a crack so please be aware. All our armatures are checked before sale and any minor surface imperfections will not effect how it performs as a mask armature.
